Swedenborg's Genius

Zaldy Carreon De Leon Jr.

Studying theology is a reformation of the whole self. The expositions are either creative, exaggerations, or implication of a true genius. Genius is legimitimate to another genius, but is a scribbling to simple-minded theologian, who rather than submit, makes his own doctrines and theology. To understand wisdom, a man of wisdom edifies. Edifiying a genius needs a genius, at least.

Reading the books of Swedenborg at the library of Grace School of Mission at QC. His books are well written but some ideas were esoteric and eccentric. He infused some literal ideas in the Bible with spiritual symbolic meaning to the point of, as if a mystic, has written it. I readily loved and instantly liked his works especially the Arcana Coelestia, the White Horse, and Earths in the Universe.

After some time in 2008 where I reached some books at the FEU for my paper, I found him again on one of the less visited areas in the 3rd floor near the shelves were the annuals of Green and Gold were stacked. My interest on his works aroused me to the point of absorbing his variegated thoughts in a nutshell.

However, though his works is acknowledged by traditionalists, conservative, and pseudo-mystical cults and religionists, I cannot say, in my own discernment that he justified that there were really "inhabitants on other planets" except if he acknowledge that these were, according to modern evangelicals, demons and other arcane beings according to some creative theologians.

Swedenborg. I love your brain, but Newton will not tolerate your ideas on Mars.
